Mechanic Maintenance Technician

This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and performing preventive maintenance on heavy industrial equipment to ensure safe and reliable plant operations. Excellent opportunity for mechanics with experience in cement plants, aggregates, mining, chemical plants, steel mills, refineries, or other heavy industrial environments. Must pass a background check, drug test, and respirator fit test prior to employment.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on plant equipment

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems including conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, motors, pumps, crushers, and material-handling equipment

  • Inspect equipment and identify potential failures before they impact production

  • Remove, install, align, and maintain motors, bearings, shafts, couplings, and other mechanical components

  • Lubricate and maintain equipment according to established maintenance schedules

  • Read and interpret maintenance manuals, blueprints, and mechanical schematics

  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment safely

  • Participate in equipment shutdowns, plant outages, and major maintenance projects

  • Follow all plant safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, confined space requirements, and OSHA regulations

  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment issues to supervisors

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and plant productivity

  • Occasional travel to other company facilities may be required

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience

  • Experience in a cement plant, aggregate operation, mining facility, manufacturing plant, refinery, steel mill, or similar heavy industrial environment preferred

  • Strong knowledge of gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, motors, pumps, hydraulic systems, and mechanical drives

  • Ability to identify and use common mechanic hand and power tools

  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs

  • Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment schematics

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods

  • Comfortable working at heights using manlifts and elevated platforms

  • Able to work in confined spaces when required

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather, dust, heat, and noise

  • Must be available for overtime, weekends, and rotating schedules

Additional Qualifications
  • TWIC Card preferred

  • Welding and fabrication experience

  • Rigging and equipment installation experience

  • Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • Experience using CMMS

  • Strong troubleshooting and teamwork skills

  • Language: English required
